Master BigQuery Identity Access Management

Master BigQuery Identity Access Management

About This Course

This course will teach you everything that you need to know about managing access to the data that you have stored in BigQuery. At the end of this course you will have two things:

  1. A comprehensive understanding of how data is organized in BigQuery.

  2. Familiarity with the options that you have for locking down access to your data, or providing users with access to data that has been masked.

Who is it for?

Does your organization store data in BigQuery without any clear guidelines about who should have access to what? Are you struggling to find a balance between total lockdown, and allowing enough flexibility for the business to operate? If so, then this course is for you. We will walk through all of the nuances available to you, and how you might decide which approach is best for your business.

Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites for this course.

Schedule

This course is available for free on our YouTube channel, but we also offer a live instructor to guide your team through the content and answer questions. The full course includes 3 hours of content over the following topics:

  • Project Level Roles and Permissions
Explore how BigQuery fits into the Google Cloud Platform, and how roles and permissions are used at a project level to control multiple products.

  • Dataset or Table Access
Assign a user access to only a subset of your data using resource permissions and tags.

  • Authorized Datasets and Views
How authorized views can be used to provide access to data that has been aggregated without granting access to the underlying data.

  • Column-Level Access Control
Introducing policy tags, and how they can be used to lock down sensitive columns in your data.

  • Dynamic Data Masking
How to instruct a column with sensitive data to return null or hashed data rather than throwing an error.

  • Row-Level Access Control
Introducing Row Access Policies, and how you can use them to restrict access to certain rows in BigQuery.

What it isn’t

  • This is not a full deep dive into Google Cloud Platform, or the roles and permissions for products other than BigQuery.

  • Not a SQL course.
